Talk to Lansing Community College instructors and staff to decide if welding is the career path for you. If so, apply for a "Get a Skill, Get a Job" scholarship at the Welding Open House. If you can not attend the Open Houses on Dec. 1 and 2, Welding Open Houses will also be held at Lansing Community College's WEST Campus Dec. 15 and 16 from 10am-4pm. Participants will learn to “think outside the box” by developing a Pure Michigan Talent Connect resume that can be used to market themselves as a value-add to their employer. This will include the opportunity to use their PMTC account to Build a Resume, populate their Profile with skills employers seek, and use their PMTC resume to market themselves to advantage as a Business of One. Each participant will develop a resume they can use immediately as well as the opportunity to participate in “follow-up” sessions as they choose for improvement and enhancement. In this workshop, you will work one-on-one with the facilitator.

Topics include what employers expect during all aspects of a job search, how to find hidden and unpublished job openings, upcoming local events, interview techniques, how to connect with one-on-one assistance with their job search, the processes to explore funding for training, locally in-demand occupations, resources available through Capital Area Michigan Works!, how to get daily and weekly updates of local job openings, helpful web sites and local staffing agencies. It is recommended (not required) that attendees bring a printed copy of their public profile from their Pure Michigan Talent Connect profile (www.mitalent.org), a printed copy of the resume that they have attached to that Pure Michigan Talent Connect profile and a pen or pencil.
